Sanchita Chatterjee Bankura: 16people died in sudden lightning strike in West Bengal, India. Of these, 8 are residents of Bankura. Apart from Bankura, 6 people died in Bardhaman, 1 person died in Purulia of Dakshin Dinajpur district and 1 in Paschim Medinipur. Most of the deaths were reported to have occurred while working in the fields. The weather pattern suddenly changed from Thursday (July 24) afternoon. It was sunny since morning, but after noon, dark clouds came to Bankura district. Along with rain, lightning has become a curse for the people of Bankura. On Thursday (July 24) evening, rain and lightning started a natural disaster in several blocks of the district. As a result, at least 8 people lost their lives in lightning strikes in a span of just a few hours. Many more were injured. Fear and grief have spread in villages and villages. The Kotulpur, Patrasayar, Jaipur, Indas and Onda blocks of Bankura were the most affected by the natural disaster.
