At least 2 students killed in train collision with school bus in Tamil Nadu, India.

On Tuesday (July 8) morning, a train collided with a school bus while it was crossing the railway line. At least 2 students have been reported dead in this incident. However, it is feared that the death toll may rise. The injured have been rescued and admitted to a local hospital. At 7 am today, the bus carrying 5 students was crossing a level crossing near Semanguppan. At that time, a train came and hit the bus. The bus was thrown about 50 meters away due to the speeding train. Moreover, the bus was twisted due to the speeding train. After the accident, locals came and started rescue work. Later, a large number of railway police reached the spot and rescued the injured and took them to the hospital, where 2 students died. The remaining 3 students, including the driver, are admitted to the ICU in a critical condition. Top officials of the Railway Police and District Police Officers reached the spot. Initially, it is being assumed that the accident occurred due to rushing to cross the railway line. Meanwhile, locals have claimed that the level crossing guard fell asleep and the accident occurred. After the accident, locals started protesting at the spot. Many have also raised their voices against the indifference of the Railways in this situation.
