Free seeds, seedlings and chemical fertilizers have been distributed among small and marginal farmers in Comilla Barura under the agricultural incentive program in the 2024-25 fiscal year.
On Wednesday, July 2 at 12 noon, under the agricultural extension program organized by the Agricultural Extension Office in the Upazila Parishad grounds, free seeds of various crops including Aman paddy, coconut seedlings, palm seedlings, vegetables, chili, neem, bell, jam and jackfruit were distributed among small and marginal farmers in the 2024/25 fiscal year / 2025/26 season.
The free fertilizer, seeds, seedlings and agricultural inputs distribution program was inaugurated by Barura Upazila Executive Officer Nu-Mong Marma Mong.
The overall supervision of the program was done by Upazila Agriculture Officer Md. Zahidul Islam.
According to the Upazila Agriculture Office, a total of 1,850 farmers were provided with 5 kg of Aman seeds each in the current season, 70 farmers were provided with vegetable seeds of 10 grams of gourd, sweet pumpkin, 5 grams of rice pumpkin, 100 grams of poi shak, 100 grams of kalmi shak seeds, 120 people were given palm seedlings, 246 people were given coconut seedlings, 38 people were given mangoes and 830 people were given local fruits.
