Golden Arrow: Sahil Rajesh Jadhav Claims Gold, Silver in Historic Win at FISU World University Games.
Sanchita Chatterjee Kolkata, 27 July 2025: Sahil Rajesh Jadhav, an athlete from the Sports Authority of India (SAI) National Centre of Excellence (NCOE) Kolkata, has delivered a historic performance for India at the FISU World University Games 2025 in Rhine-Ruhr, Germany.
In a stellar display of precision and focus, Jadhav clinched the Gold medal in the Men's Individual Compound Archery event. He defeated Ajay Scott of Great Britain in a tense final with a score of 149−148. Jadhav also secured a Silver medal as part of the Men's Compound Team, which narrowly lost to Turkey in a nail-biting final, 231−232.
The FISU World University Games, held in Rhine-Ruhr from 16-27 July 2025, brings together the world's top university athletes. Amidst intense competition, Sahil demonstrated unwavering consistency and nerves of steel to emerge as a double medalist.
"It is an honour to represent my country on such a prestigious platform," said Sahil after his victory. "Winning gold for India is a dream come true. I dedicate this victory to my coaches, family, support staff, and everyone who has stood by me throughout this journey."
Sahil has been training at SAI NCOE Kolkata since March 2022 under the guidance of Archery Coach Sh. Haresh Kumar. This victory not only highlights Sahil’s rising trajectory in the global archery scene but also reinforces India’s growing strength in compound archery at the international level.
