Sanchita Chatterjee, BS News Agency, Kolkata:The ASMITA Cycling League 2025–26 witnessed a powerful display of resilience today in Kolkata, as cyclists braved torrential rain and stormy conditions to participate in the latest leg of the competition.
The event, held at the Sports Authority of India Complex, was almost called off due to the severity of the weather. Severe conditions across South Bengal prevented several registered participants—especially from outlying districts—from reaching the venue.
Yet, a spirited turnout of passionate and committed riders made it to the starting line, proving that dedication to sport knows no barriers—even the weather.
Organized by the West Bengal Cyclists’ Association (WBCA) under the aegis of the Cycling Federation of India (CFI) and supported by Khelo India’s ASMITA initiative, the event featured Mass Start Road Races in two categories: Elite Women and Under-18 Girls.
