Sikkim Tourismunveils New Destinations and Engage Stakeholders at TTF.
Sanchita Chatterjee BS News Agency Kolkata: July 10, 2025 - Sikkim Tourism made a significant impact at the Travel & Tourism Fair (TTF) in Kolkata. The exhibition is to be held from July 10 to July 12, 2025, at the Biswa Bangla Mela Prangan in Kolkata.
Sikkim Tourism's participation marked the introduction of two brand-new travel destinations: Yangang in South Sikkim and Soreng in West Sikkim. This engagement also heralds the first-ever representation of elected members on such a prominent platform, promising to generate substantial buzz and brand awareness.
Sikkim Tourism created considerable excitement on Day 1 of the exhibition, particularly around its planned panel discussions featuring Mr. Aditya Golay, MLA Soreng-Chakung, and Smt. Rajkumari Thapa, MLA and Dy. Speaker. These discussions will delve into the vast scope of tourism in Sikkim and the strategic new positioning of these emerging destinations. Sikkim Tourism is slated to take center stage for panel discussions immediately following the exhibition's inauguration. Speaking about this participation, Chief Minister of Sikkim, Shri Prem Singh Tamang Golay, "As Sikkim proudly celebrates its 50 years of statehood, we stand at a pivotal moment, embracing a vision for tourism that is deeply rooted in sustainability, community empowerment, and the authentic preservation of our pristine Himalayan heritage." He added, "Our efforts, particularly with the introduction of new gateways like Yangang and Soreng, are not just about opening new vistas for travelers; they are about fostering genuine connections, encouraging responsible exploration, and ensuring that the benefits of tourism uplift every Sikkimese family. We are building a 'Sunaulo, Samriddha, and Samartha Sikkim' a golden, prosperous, and capable Sikkim - where every visitor becomes an ambassador of our unique culture and the breathtaking beauty that has flourished for five decades as a proud state of India."
Tourism Minister TT Bhutia said, "Sikkim has always held a special place on the tourist map, and now, with the evolution of our tourism initiatives, South Sikkim is poised to become a vital gateway. Its strategic location offers excellent connectivity, including from Darjeeling, opening up new avenues for travelers to explore our diverse state."
