Janmashtami celebrations at Ballygunge Bharat Sevashram Sangh, Kolkata

Sanchita Chatterjee, BS News Agency, Kolkata: The two-day Janmashtami festival, marking the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna, has begun at Ballygunge Bharat Sevashram Sangh.
Special pujas, Gita readings, discussions on the life of Lord Krishna, and cultural programmes are organized on the occasion. Devotees throng the temple since early morning to participate in special pujas and aartis.
 Swami Vishwatmananda Maharaj, the Chief Secretary of Bharat Sevashram Sangh, said, "Shri Krishna is a symbol of ideals and valor. Every year, Janmashtami is celebrated with great pomp and show to inspire people with his ideals. 
The Janmashtami celebrations began with the Gita reading to spread the message of the Gita, composed with the advice that Shri Krishna gave to Arjuna, among the common people. 
Swami Tyagatmananda, Swami Divya Gnanananda, Swami Sanghatmananda Maharaj and others participated in the Gita reading along with the students.
