BS News Agency: A terrible flood situation has arisen in the eastern part of Pakistan. Due to continuous heavy rains in the Indian border area, the water level in the three cross-border rivers - Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej - has increased abnormally. Unable to withstand the pressure of the water, the authorities on Wednesday blew up a part of the embankment of the Qadirabad dam on the Chenab river through a controlled explosion.

A high flood alert has been issued across the Punjab province of Pakistan in this incident. Kartarpur Sahib, one of the holiest Sikh religious sites in the world, has been submerged in the strong flow of water.

Punjab Disaster Management Authority spokesperson Mazhar Hussain told the media, "To protect the main infrastructure of the dam, we have been forced to blow up the embankment on the right side. This will reduce the water pressure to some extent."

About half of the country's total population lives in Punjab. In a dangerous situation, the army has been deployed to evacuate lakhs of people and cattle from the banks of the Chenab, Ravi and Sutlej rivers.
