Sonali Halder, BS News Agency, Kolkata, 14 September 2025: In a pivotal encounter in the Championship Round of the 2025 Calcutta Football League (CFL) Premier Division, Emami East Bengal FC secured a 3-1 victory over Diamond Harbour FC at the Kishore Bharati Krirangan this afternoon. David Lalhlansanga and Jesin TK (2) scored for the Red & Gold Brigade.
EEB started their second Championship Round match with two changes as goalkeeper Debjit Majumder and attacker Sayan Banerjee returned from suspensions.
The match started at a brisk pace with EEB dominating possession and creating early chances. In the 26th minute, David Lalhlansanga broke the deadlock off Vishnu PV's assist to net his fifth CFL 2025 goal.
DHFC responded with intent, pressing high and earning a few set-pieces, but the EEB defense held firm and managed to protect the 1-0 lead till the half-time break.
DHFC started the second half with more resilience. They equalized in the 71st minute via Sairuatkima. However, the Red & Golds regained their composure and struck back in the 75th minute when substitute Jesin TK restored the lead. Sayan Banerjee charged into the box and unleashed a goal-bound shot, but it ricocheted off the rival custodian's glove and fell in front of an onrushing Jesin, who made no mistake to slot the ball in.
In the dying minutes of the game, Jesin completed his brace with a stunning strike to the far post.
The victory propelled the Red & Gold Brigade closer to the CFL title, with them needing a victory against United SC in their final Championship Round match at the East Bengal Ground on 22 September.
Speaking to the media after the win, EEB B Team Coach Archishman Biswas said, "It's a positive sign that we are creating multiple chances in every game, but we need to be more effective in conversion. That said, I would laud the boys for scoring three goals in consecutive matches against quality opponents."
EEB defender Provat Lakra said, "It's a collective effort. DHFC are a very formidable opponent, so it was a hard-fought victory. We have a crucial match coming up against United SC at home. We will give our best in the final match in front of our home fans to reclaim the CFL title."
