The incident took place in Rameshwarpur area of Kumarsand area of Kandi police station. According to local sources, a gas cylinder exploded suddenly while cooking on Wednesday morning. The fire spread throughout the house in an instant.
The intensity of the explosion shook the place. Six members of the family were seriously burned. Among them, three-year-old Amina Parveen died on the spot.
The injured include Anisur SK (40), Alladi Bibi (35), Ruli Bibi (26), Nurjahan Khatun (16) and Rizba Bibi (35). All of them have been admitted to Murshidabad Medical College and Hospital in a critical condition.
The police and fire brigade reached the spot and brought the situation under control. Initially, it is believed that the explosion occurred due to a gas leak. The Kandi police station has started an investigation into the entire incident.
