Football Legend Lothar Matthäus Visits Kolkata To Promote Bengal Super League

Sanchita Chatterjee, BS News Agency, Kolkata, 16th November, 2025: Legendary FIFA World Cup-winning captain and global football icon, Mr Lothar Matthäus, visited Kolkata as the Official Ambassador of the Bengal Super League (BSL), an ambitious and professionally structured football initiative spearheaded by Shrachi Sports.
As part of his visit, Mr Lothar Matthäus participated in a special interactive event titled "Masterclass with Lothar Matthäus", held at South City International School. The session was attended by prominent dignitaries including Ms Barbara Voss, Consul General of Germany, Mr Ravi Todi, Director, South City International School and Mr Tamal Ghosal, Chairman, Shrachi Sports. Around 150 students from over ten reputed schools attended the event, where the football legend conducted a short session, shared insights from his illustrious career and demonstrated select techniques and football skills.

In addition to the school engagement, a charity dinner was organized in honour of Lothar Matthäus, where signed jerseys and exclusive memorabilia from the football star were auctioned. The event, which hosted approximately 300 distinguished guests, raised funds to support grassroots football development initiatives in Bengal.
The Bengal Super League, conceptualized and organized by Shrachi Sports, represents a major step towards revitalizing Bengal's football ecosystem. The inaugural season is scheduled to commence on the second week of December, featuring eight participating teams from across the state. Matches will be conducted at leading venues and are expected to attract wide public and media attention.
Additionally, Shrachi Sports' partnership with Z Sports marks a significant step forward in making Bengal's football ecosystem more accessible and engaging for audiences everywhere. Under this collaboration, all Bengal Super League matches will be telecast LIVE exclusively on Zee Bangla Sonar and streamed LIVE on ZEE5, ensuring that fans can catch every thrilling moment anytime and anywhere.
