Young Indians (YI) Launch Braille & Accessibility Initiative at Islamia Hospital — A Step Toward a Truly Inclusive Future
Sanchita Chatterjee, BS News Agency, Kolkata: Islamia Hospital today unveiled its newly installed Braille signage and sign-language video guides, marking a significant milestone in making healthcare spaces more accessible for visually impaired, deaf, and speech-impaired individuals. The initiative ensures that every visitor can navigate the hospital with dignity, confidence, and independence.
This impactful project has been undertaken by Young Indians (YI), the youth wing of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII). Under the leadership of the Team Accessibility Chair – Neha Agarwal, Joint Chair – Saurabh Jain, and Co-Chair – Nitish Saraf, the team has played a crucial role in transforming the hospital environment into one that welcomes everyone without barriers.
The YI Accessibility Team emphasized that in today’s world, “inclusion is the default setting”, and such efforts are essential to building spaces where every individual—regardless of ability—can thrive.
With this successful launch, YI looks forward to executing even larger accessibility projects in the near future, strengthening its mission to create a more inclusive society for all.
The Islamia Hospital accessibility launch stands as a powerful example of how meaningful change begins—with awareness, action, and the belief that inclusion is not an option but a responsibility.
