21 Border Security Force Officers and Soldiers Awarded President's Police Medal.

Sanchita Chatterjee, BS News Agency, Kolkata, December 30, 2025: Ten serving and eleven retired members of the Border Security Force (BSF) were honored with the President's Police Medal for Meritorious Service in Kolkata today. ​​The medals were presented by the Governor of West Bengal, Dr. C.V. Ananda Bose. This medal recognizes members of state police forces and central police and security agencies for their exceptional dedication and service to duty.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Governor said that today's event is not only a celebration of the excellence of the 21 awardees but also a tribute to the values ​​of the country's security forces and the sacrifices of its soldiers. As a former government official with long experience in public service, Dr. Ananda Bose highlighted the crucial role of the BSF in protecting the country's security during both peacetime and wartime. Also present at the ceremony were Shri Rajiv Ranjan Lal, Inspector General (Human Resources), BSF Eastern Command, and Shri Bhupendra Singh, Inspector General, South Bengal Frontier, BSF.

Formed after the 1965 Indo-Pakistan War, the Border Security Force currently performs a wide range of duties, from border security and crime prevention to counter-insurgency operations and assisting the army in military operations. As the world's largest border guarding force, with approximately 250,000 personnel, the BSF has played a commendable role in the defense of the country, from the 1971 war to Operation Sindoor.
