Sanchita Chatterjee, BS News Agency, Kathmandu, 10 December 2025:
The inaugural SAFF Women's Club Championship reaches its halfway stage with a highly anticipated India-Pakistan fixture between East Bengal FC Women and Karachi City FC. The match will be played at Kathmandu's Dashrath Stadium tomorrow afternoon (Kickoff - 1.45 PM IST).
EBFC Women opened their campaign with a commanding 4-0 victory over Bhutan's Transport United Ladies at the same venue on Monday, thanks to a brace from captain Fazila Ikwaput and a goal each from Resty Nanziri and Sulanjana Raul.
Karachi City FC, meanwhile, collected goalless draws from their first two games - against Transport United Ladies (Bhutan) and Nasrin Sports Academy (Bangladesh), respectively.
With both sides entering the contest unbeaten, this encounter could define the race for the top two spots and a spot in the final, scheduled to be played on 20 December. The Red & Gold Women currently occupy the pole position, jointly with Nepal's APF, with 3 points (Goal difference: 4)
*Speaking to the media on the eve of the game, EBFC Women's Head Coach Anthony Andrews, said*, "We've got over the first victory and shifted our focus completely to the Karachi game. It's an India vs Pakistan game, so the stakes are obviously high. It's a must-win game for Karachi City, so they'll be eager to put up a good fight. As a team, we are on the right track and will start the game with a positive intent."
