Scientists have discovered an unusual lemon-shaped exoplanet.
Bibhash Lodh, BS NewsAgency: Astronomers have discovered a gas giant, PSR J2322–2650b, with an unusual elongated, "lemon-like" shape, according to the Daily Mail. The planet, which is about the size of Jupiter, is severely deformed by the gravity of the pulsar it orbits, completing one revolution in 7.8 hours and located about 750 light-years from Earth.
Its atmosphere consists almost entirely of molecular carbon and contains almost no water, methane or carbon dioxide, which has not been seen before. The planet's origin remains a mystery; it is the only known gas giant orbiting a neutron star. 🌎
