BS News Agency: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday (January 1) announced that the Guwahati–North Guwahati bridge (Kumar Bhaskar Varma Setu) will be inaugurated in February this year.
The Chief Minister made the announcement during the 'Notun Dinor Alap', his customary new year Press Conference.
*The construction work of the bridge is nearing completion and it will ease traffic congestion while boosting economic and social linkages between the two banks of the river.*
*The bridge, being constructed with a cost of Rs 3,030 crore, is one of the biggest infrastructure project taken by the Assam government.*
*The foundation of the bridge project over the Brahmaputra at Guwahati was laid by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in February 2019.*
