Sanchita Chatterjee, BSvNews Agency, Kolkata, January 19, 2026: The renovated and modernized N-Gen Jadavpur University Post Office, under the Department of Posts' flagship N-Gen (Next Generation) initiative, was officially inaugurated today on the Jadavpur University campus.
The inauguration ceremony was led by the Vice-Chancellor of Jadavpur University, Professor Dr. Chiranjib Bhattacharjee, along with the Registrar, Professor Dr. Selim Box Mondal. Also present were Shri Ashok Kumar, IPOS, Chief Postmaster General, West Bengal Circle; Shri Rijju Ganguly, Postmaster General, South Bengal Region; Shri Supriyo Ghosh, Postmaster General (Mails & Business Development), West Bengal Circle; Shri Hammad Zafar, DPS (HQ), West Bengal Circle; and Shri Prabhat Bandyopadhyay, Senior Superintendent of Post Offices. Senior officials from the Department of Posts, students, faculty members, and media representatives were also in attendance.
The N-Gen Post Office sets a significant example of modern postal services in a customer-friendly, technology-enabled, and digitally empowered environment. This center will provide savings schemes, insurance products, postal and parcel services, and various e-enabled citizen services under one roof.
Speaking at the event, Shri Ashok Kumar said that the N-Gen initiative aims to transform traditional post offices into dynamic service centers that align with the expectations of the younger generation, while maintaining the credibility and reliability of India Post.The Vice-Chancellor of Jadavpur University, Professor Dr. Chiranjib Bhattacharjee, commended the Department of Posts for establishing a modern postal service center within the university campus. He said that this post office will ensure easy access to essential services for students, faculty, and residents of the surrounding areas and will be highly beneficial.
The inauguration of the N-Gen Jadavpur University Post Office marks a significant example of the growing collaboration between the Department of Posts and educational institutions. It further reflects India Post's commitment to innovation, inclusion, and excellent service.
