PIB/BS News Agency, Kolkata, January 28, 2026: The Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Nityanand Rai, today virtually flagged off the Vande Mataram CISF Coastal Cyclothon 2026, marking the commencement of a nationwide awareness campaign focused on coastal security and community participation. The virtual flag-off was conducted at 07:30 AM today, from Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium, New Delhi.
In West Bengal, the Cyclothon was ceremonially launched at Yogiraj Mandir, Kakdwip, and Bakkhali, highlighting the State’s significant role in the national coastal security framework. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from CISF personnel, local representatives and members of coastal communities.
The Cyclothon commenced simultaneously from two points—Lakhpat Fort in Gujarat and Bakkhali in West Bengal—today will culminate at Kochi on February 21, 2026, followed by a closing ceremony on February 22, 2026.
Covering a distance of more than 6,500 kilometres, the Cyclothon comprises 130 cyclists of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF). The initiative aims to generate awareness among coastal populations about the importance of coastal security, while reinforcing the values of inclusivity, resilience and collective national responsibility.
