Ajit Pawar Plane Crash: Three Days of State Mourning Declared.

Sanchita Chaterjee, BS News Agency: Baramati is preparing for the state funeral of Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, scheduled to take place tomorrow at 11 am at the Vidya Pratishthan ground, following his death in a plane crash on Wednesday morning. Government officials confirmed that the funeral will be held with full state honours, reflecting Pawar’s long political service and influence in the region.

The tragic incident occurred as Pawar’s chartered aircraft attempted to land at Baramati Airport after departing from Mumbai. The plane went down during an emergency landing attempt, and all six people on board, including Pawar, were confirmed dead by authorities.

Ajit Pawar’s last rites will be held on 29 January 2026, following his tragic death in a plane crash near Baramati. The Maharashtra government has announced a state funeral in his honour. The day has been marked for official ceremonies and public tributes across the state.

Ajit Pawar Funeral Time

The funeral will take place at 11:00 am at the Vidya Pratishthan Grounds, Baramati. His mortal remains will be kept there earlier for public darshan, allowing supporters and leaders to pay their final respects.

The Vidya Pratishthan ground has been designated as the venue for Pawar’s final rites and public viewing. Thousands of supporters and well-wishers have already gathered in Baramati to pay their respects before the funeral ceremony. The site holds particular significance because of Pawar’s strong connection to the region and his long career in Maharashtra politics.

Family members, including Pawar’s wife Sunetra Pawar and his son, are expected to be present. Senior political leaders are also likely to attend as the state prepares to honour one of its most prominent figures.

Following the crash, the Maharashtra government declared three days of state mourning beginning on the day of the accident. All official programmes and entertainment events during this period have been cancelled as a mark of respect for the late leader. Flags on all government buildings will fly at half-mast, and a state holiday has been announced for today to allow citizens to join in mourning.

Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has said that he, along with Deputy CM Eknath Shinde, is coordinating arrangements with Pawar’s family to ensure a dignified farewell.
