Kerala Blasters needed something to change in the second-half but failed to do so. After finishing the first-half on a high, Mohun Bagan dominated proceedings in the second-half as well, having most of the ball and creating the better chances.
Blasters had a chance to equalise from a late freekick but failed to do so.
While Robson Robinho’s injury would worry coach Sergio Lobera and the fans, Mohun Bagan finished the match on a high note after Tom Aldred scored a late second after getting his head to Anirudh Thapa’s cross. First Half: Australian forward Jamie Maclaren gave the Mariners the lead in the 36th minute after converting a cross from Dimitri Petratos.
Second Half: Despite late pressure from the Blasters, Mohun Bagan secured the win in injury time (90+7') when Tom Aldred headed home a free kick from Anirudh Thapa. Mohun Bagan SG and Kerala Blasters have faced each other a total of 10 times. Out of these encounters, the Mariners have emerged victorious on eight occasions, while the Tuskers have managed just one win. The remaining match ended in a draw.
