Sanchita Chatterjer, BS News Agency: Kolkata witnessed the curtain raiser of the maiden edition of 0DB – Zero Decibel in association with 91.9 Friends FM, a first-of-its-kind multi-week live band competition hosted by One SIP Gastropub, in the presence of stalwarts from the Bengali rock fraternity including Siddhartha Ray (Sidhu), vocalist of the iconic band Cactus; Gaurab Chatterjee (Gaboo), drummer of Lakkhichara; Indrajit Dey (Indra), music composer, former keyboardist of Fossils and Suvendu Roy, Curator, 0DB. The initiative marks the beginning of an ambitious platform envisioned to revive the legacy of Bengal’s iconic band culture while offering emerging and corporate bands a stage to perform and be discovered.
Conceptualised by Suvendu Roy and Moitryee Bhattacharjee from One Sip as more than just a competition, 0DB has been designed as a vibrant cultural movement where unheard music finds its voice and rising bands step from silence into the spotlight. Spread across multiple weeks, the platform aims to energise Kolkata’s youth culture, attract music lovers and influencers, and establish itself as a defining fixture in the city’s live entertainment calendar.
The competition will culminate in a grand finale scheduled to take place on 23rd May at Nazrul Mancha.
Speaking on the occasion, Suvendu Roy, Curator, 0DB, said, "0DB — Zero Decibel marks the beginning of what we hope will become a long-standing platform for emerging musical talent. While this is only the maiden edition, we envision many more editions in the years to come, each strengthening the spirit of Bengal’s legendary band culture and creating a renaissance for fresh voices in the independent music scene.”
