Sanchita Chatterjee  BS News Agency: We started a peaceful dharna against the BJP-led central government's unplanned 'SIR' scheme to remove the names of legitimate voters and to protest the killing of democracy. Today, on the evening of the fifth day of the dharna, we withdrew the Rajpath dharna. The names of genuine voters are being removed illegally, and they have no opportunity to appeal. With faith in the judicial system, we raised this issue in the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court has ordered the formation of an Appellate Tribunal Bench with former judges of the Calcutta High Court so that those whose names are being removed from the voter list can apply again. This decision of the Supreme Court will further pave the way for protecting democratic rights. In order to ensure that the name of even a single legitimate voter in Bengal is not removed, the names of voters will be included in the voter list if necessary even a day before the election and the Supreme Court has said that the 'SIR' case will be monitored as a special case. We are reassured by the Supreme Court's verdict today. The anti-Bengali BJP and its abettors Vanish Kumar have thwarted the conspiracy to forcibly take away the voting rights. When the election day is announced, the voting process will continue, and at the same time, we must help people, regardless of race, religion, caste, or party affiliation, in getting their names on the voter list. We must stand by the people. Bengal knows how to fight. And in this fight to protect the voting rights, we stand by every person in Bengal. This victory of our movement to protect the voting rights is not only the victory of the Trinamool Congress, this victory is the victory of the people of Bengal. This victory is the victory of constitutional rights, the victory of democracy.
