Sanchita Chatterjee, BS News Agency, Kolkata: No one could have possibly imagined that such a tragedy would occur. Actor Rahul Arunoday Banerjee has passed away prematurely. The accident took place during the filming of a television serial. Rahul was swept away by the sea. He was subsequently rescued and rushed to a hospital, where doctors pronounced him dead. Why exactly had Rahul gone to Talsari for a shoot? Rahul Arunoday Banerjee had begun his acting career at the tender age of three. He started out in theater. He made his big-screen debut with the film *Chirodini Tumi Je Amar*. Alongside his film work, Rahul had also been acting in television serials for many years.
At the time of his death, he was starring in a serial titled *Bholebaba Paar Karega*. It is a hit serial, boasting excellent TRP ratings. Rahul Arunoday Banerjee played the lead role—the protagonist—in this series.
His character's name was Ujan. Starring opposite him was the female lead, Sweta Mishra, whose character was named Queen. The storyline currently being aired depicted the sweet domestic life of the couple. While the real-life Rahul was known for being outspoken, his character in the serial was portrayed as reticent and shy. His on-screen wife, conversely, was depicted as equally lively and exuberant. Having recently tied the knot, Ujan and Queen had gone to a beach destination for their honeymoon. It was precisely these scenes—capturing their playful banter and romantic moments by the sea—that were being filmed at Talsari Beach.
The serial's storyline was penned by Leena Gangopadhyay. She stated that the original plan for the shoot involved merely wading into the water up to ankle-depth. However, confusion now surrounds exactly how both Rahul and Sweta ended up falling into the water—and how Rahul subsequently drifted so far away. The production unit maintains that Rahul had been explicitly warned not to venture any further into the water.
A massive wave struck, causing both Sweta and Rahul to lose their footing and fall. Sweta was rescued immediately. Young men aboard a nearby boat pulled Rahul out of the water. At that moment, he was still alive and speaking.
