Announcement of expansion of Aadhaar services in West Bengal.
Sanchita Chatterjee, BS News Agency,PIB, Kolkata: Shri Bhuvnesh Kumar, Chief Executive Officer of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI), today visited the Aadhaar Seva Kendra located in Asansol. This centre is directly supervised by UIDAI and managed by ‘Protian e-Gov Technologies Limited’. Apart from Aadhaar enrolment of citizens of all ages, all types of Aadhaar services are available here.
During the visit, Shri Kumar inspected the overall functioning of the centre and collected detailed information about the Aadhaar services provided to the common man. He personally observed the Aadhaar enrolment process, mandatory biometric update for children, correction of personal details and procedures for updating mobile number and email.
He discussed with the officials and operators about efficiency, crowd management, infrastructure facilities and whether the government guidelines are being followed properly. He also took the views of the citizens present at the centres on the quality of services, transparency and timeliness of work. He directed the officials to ensure that the problems of the people are resolved quickly and effectively.
During this visit, the expansion of Aadhaar services in West Bengal was announced. Earlier, 72 Enrolment Kits (AEKs) were operational in eight Aadhaar Seva Kendras in eight districts of the state. Now, the number of centres is being increased to 22 in 21 districts of the state in phases and a total of 181 kits will be provided. As a result of this initiative, the common man will get all the facilities related to Aadhaar more easily near his home.
He was accompanied by Shri Akhilesh Kumar Gupta, Deputy Director General, UIDAI, Ranchi Regional Office, Shri Shubhdeep Chowdhury, Director, Kolkata State Office, Shri Neeraj Kumar, Director, Ranchi Regional Office and Shri Sreejit Nair and Shri Apurba Chowdhury from Protian e-Gov Technologies Limited.
UIDAI has given importance to data security, privacy and due process. The authority is committed to providing secure, accessible and people-friendly Aadhaar services to the citizens. This visit is an important step towards strengthening the Aadhaar infrastructure in West Bengal and ensuring transparent and quality services at the grassroots level.
