Murshidabad Set to Witness a Bloodless Election! CEO Impressed by Booth Infrastructure, Offers Reassuring Words.

Sanchita Chatterjee, BS News Agency: Last Saturday, CEO Manoj Agarwal visited Nandigram in East Medinipur. That visit subsequently sparked intense controversy. Undeterred by this, Manoj Agarwal has now arrived in Murshidabad. From there, he expressed his satisfaction regarding the election preparations. The CEO is optimistic that this election (West Bengal Assembly Election 2026) will be celebrated like a "festival."
Expressing satisfaction with the election preparations, Manoj Agarwal asserted, "What crisis is there here? There is no crisis here. There are no problems here. All the people here are united." Regarding the polling centers, he remarked, "The infrastructure here is excellent. I have visited so many booths, yet I have never seen booths as good as these."
Manoj Agarwal is confident that there will be no issues during the upcoming election in Murshidabad. He stated, "I have visited many villages. There is no fear or intimidation there. There are no threats." He added that the people have assured him that, just as in previous times, they will turn out to cast their votes this time as well. He declared that Murshidabad is set to witness a bloodless election this time around. He asserted, "This election in Murshidabad will be a festival, much like Durga Puja. People will come, cast their votes, and leave."
Murshidabad saw the highest number of names excluded during the SIR (Summary Inquiry Report) process. Addressing the law and order situation in Murshidabad in light of this, he stated, "Following the Supreme Court's order, judicial officers adjudicated the names. Consequently, some names were excluded. Tribunals have been established, and people are approaching them to file appeals." He further clarified, "The exclusion of such a large number of names—as you mentioned—occurred through a judicial process based on the Supreme Court's order. This was not initiated by the ECI (Election Commission of India) or the ERO (Electoral Registration Officer). If a name is excluded during adjudication, established procedures exist; individuals can file fresh applications. If they are eligible, their names will certainly be reinstated." Manoj Agarwal has stated that, during the upcoming elections in Murshidabad, the administration will stand united and work alongside the people. He remarked, "The administration—including the District Magistrate (DM) and Superintendent of Police (SP)—is present here. Additionally, the CAPF is deployed. Everyone is holding meetings collectively. The entire administration will work in unison to assist the public. The election here will be free from fear." He further asserted, "The people desire a fair and peaceful election everywhere. Such acts are perpetrated by miscreants, not by ordinary citizens. We will take action against these miscreants."
