Promises of marriage to multiple women, accompanied by cohabitation, and dancing to the rhythm with scantily clad women!

Sanchita Chatterjee, BS News Agency: Allegations are mounting one after another against 'Singham' IPS officer Ajay Pal Sharma. 'Singham vs. Pushpa'—this phrase has now gone viral ahead of the second phase of the elections. At the center of this controversy are Jahangir Khan, the Trinamool candidate for the Falta Assembly constituency, and Ajay Pal Sharma—Uttar Pradesh's own 'Singham'—who has been appointed as the Police Observer for the Diamond Harbour Lok Sabha constituency. A video of Sharma issuing a stern warning while standing right outside the Trinamool candidate's residence has now gone viral on social media. In the wake of this incident, the Trinamool Congress has leveled a barrage of allegations against Ajay Pal Sharma.
Trinamool leader Shantanu Sen has made explosive allegations against the officer. He claims that there are numerous complaints pending against Ajay Pal Sharma, including accusations of embezzling lakhs of rupees under the pretext of securing police postings for individuals. Sen has also cast doubts on Sharma's character, alleging that he maintains relationships with multiple women. "This is a police officer from Uttar Pradesh against whom so many allegations exist—accusations of taking bribes in exchange for police postings, and allegations of cohabiting with multiple women after promising them marriage—yet he has been appointed as an observer here! One must understand that the soil of Bengal is unique; such conduct will not be tolerated here," he asserted.
Incidentally, Trinamool MP Mahua Moitra also posted a video of Ajay Pal Sharma on her 'X' (formerly Twitter) handle. The video shows Sharma dancing energetically to the rhythm alongside scantily clad dancers. As soon as the video surfaced, it went viral within moments.
Posting the video, Mahua wrote, "I hope your policing skills are better than your dancing skills." Trinamool candidate and incumbent Minister Chandrima Bhattacharya remarked, "I do not know what his passion for dancing is! However, such antics will not be tolerated here. The kind of 'dancing' he is engaging in here while serving as a Police Observer is unacceptable on this soil. This is Bengal." She further added, "Those at whose behest he has arrived here are sitting in power at the Centre; but here, against whom he has come to contend—well, here we have 'Pushpa'."
Allegations of violating the election code of conduct were also leveled against Ajay Pal Sharma, leading to a case being filed in court. However, that legal challenge ultimately did not hold water. Justice Krishna Rao clarified that the court would not interfere in the work of any official engaged in election duties until April 29.
