Sanchita Chatterjee, BS News Agency: The unearthing of an organized religious conversion ring within the TCS campus in Nashik has sparked an uproar across the entire nation. Now, this issue has reached the country's apex court—the Supreme Court. A new petition filed before the court asserts that such forced or fraudulent conversions are not merely a religious matter, but rather constitute a grave threat to India's 'national security.' The petitioner-advocate argued before the court that this incident in Nashik has shaken the conscience of the entire nation. The petition levels several sensational allegations:
Terrorist Activity: When religious conversion forms part of a large-scale and well-orchestrated operation, it ought to be classified as a 'terrorist activity.'
Foreign Conspiracy: Such rings are often backed by funding from foreign powers, with the primary objective of disrupting India's demographic religious balance and undermining the country's unity and integrity.
Legal Preconditions: While the right to religious freedom exists, it does not supersede public order and morality. Changing one's religion through fraud or coercion is unconstitutional.
In light of this situation, two primary demands have been placed before the Supreme Court. First, that the Central and State governments be directed to implement stringent measures to curb religious conversions. Second, that separate 'Special Courts' be constituted to ensure the expeditious disposal of such sensitive cases. The Supreme Court is already examining this matter.
