182 Appointment Letters distributed to Successful Candidates
from Railway, Banking, Postal, IIT and FCI.
Sanchita Chatterjee, BS News Agency, PIB: The Kharagpur Division of South Eastern Railway today organised the 19th Rozgar Mela as a part of the nationwide employment generation initiative of the Union Government. The programme was linked to the national Rozgar Mela addressed by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi through video conferencing, during which 51,000 appointment letters were distributed to newly recruited candidates across the country.
At the Kharagpur event, appointment letters were handed over to 182 successful candidates selected in various organisations including the Railways, Banking sector, Postal Department, Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) and Food Corporation of India (FCI).
The programme was attended by Shri Shantanu Thakur, Union Minister of State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways and Shri Dilip Ghosh, Minister of Panchayat and Rural Development, Agricultural Marketing and Animal Resources Development, Government of West Bengal, among others. Senior railway officials present on the occasion included Shri Lalit Mohan Pandey, Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), Kharagpur Division, Shri Babul Barman, Additional Divisional Railway Manager (ADRM), CMS, DPO and other officers of South Eastern Railway.
Speaking on the occasion, Shri Shantanu Thakur stated that India is working towards becoming a 5 trillion-dollar economy, with employment generation and good governance playing a crucial role in achieving this target. He emphasised that the country’s transport and railway infrastructure has witnessed unprecedented growth under the present Government, contributing significantly to economic development, connectivity and employment opportunities.
Addressing the gathering, Shri Dilip Ghosh said that India is making rapid progress across sectors including space technology, artificial intelligence and drone technology, while simultaneously preserving and promoting its cultural heritage. He highlighted several major infrastructure initiatives undertaken in recent years, including the operation of six Vande Bharat Express trains, the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme and the proposed bullet train projects, describing them as symbols of a rapidly developing India.
Shri Ghosh also stated that a proposal has been submitted for upgrading the Kharagpur airport for civilian use, which would further strengthen regional connectivity and economic growth.
The Rozgar Mela initiative reflects the Government’s continued focus on transparent recruitment, youth empowerment and accelerated nation-building through large-scale employment generation across sectors.
