Sanchita Chatterjee, BS News Agency; Obstruction of barbed-wire fencing construction at the Bangladesh border! Mithun Chakraborty sends a stern message to the BGB. Since the BJP government assumed power in West Bengal, the construction of barbed-wire fencing along the India-Bangladesh border has commenced in full swing. However, amidst this ongoing process, allegations have surfaced that the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) is obstructing the work near the Tin Bigha Corridor in Cooch Behar. In light of this situation, renowned actor and BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty intervened in the matter and issued a stern warning to the BGB in strong terms.

**The Importance of Border Fencing in Curbing Infiltration**

While interacting with journalists during a visit to a cancer center in Cooch Behar, Mithun Chakraborty made it clear that preventing infiltration is currently the government's primary objective in ensuring the security of the state. The promise made in the BJP's election manifesto regarding the installation of barbed-wire fencing along the border is now being realized. He alleged that, until recently, this work had been stalled due to a lack of cooperation from the state administration; however, since the government led by the current Chief Minister, Suvendu Adhikari, took charge, the construction of the fencing has been progressing at a rapid pace.

**A Warning to the BGB**

Reports indicate that the BGB obstructed the Border Security Force (BSF) immediately after the latter commenced survey operations in Kalsigram, located near the Tin Bigha Corridor. Expressing his indignation over the matter, Mithun Chakraborty stated that if they (the BGB) continue to obstruct this construction work, the consequences will not be favorable. Although he refrained from making detailed comments on the issue at this specific moment, he views such conduct by the BGB as an act of intimidation.

In response to this situation, a 'Flag Meeting' was held between the BSF and the BGB to ensure the maintenance of security along the border. Local MLA Dadhiram Roy also held discussions with the BSF authorities regarding this matter. The current state administration considers this process of constructing barbed-wire fencing to be of paramount importance for the sake of India's internal security; consequently, the issue has now become highly sensitive from both diplomatic and border security perspectives.
