BS News Agency: CID's activity sparks intense speculation. Abhishek Banerjee might be arrested at any moment in connection with the signature forgery case; at least, that is the speculation in the state, fueled by the CID's recent moves. Trinamool's All India General Secretary, Abhishek Banerjee, is scheduled to return to Kolkata from Delhi today, Wednesday. Sources indicate that CID officials have already arrived at Kolkata Airport ahead of his arrival. State detectives have contacted airport authorities to track Abhishek's movements. Abhishek has previously skipped CID summons three times regarding the signature forgery case. He has also petitioned the Calcutta High Court seeking legal protection in this matter. A hearing for the case is scheduled for today, Wednesday, but the CID's activity prior to this has already sparked speculation.

Abhishek is in a tight spot over the case involving the forgery of party MLAs' signatures in the Legislative Assembly. The CID has summoned him three times for questioning in this investigation. Officials even visited his residence to serve notices. However, the Trinamool MP has repeatedly avoided appearing, citing various reasons. He was supposed to appear at Bhabani Bhavan last Monday regarding the forgery case but skipped the appearance, citing the ongoing case in the Calcutta High Court.
However, it remains unclear whether he will be arrested or merely questioned by the state intelligence agency upon his arrival at Kolkata Airport. Yesterday, Tuesday, CID officials visited the Trinamool party office adjacent to Mamata Banerjee's residence in Kalighat as part of the investigation. They conducted the visit to locate a copy of a resolution submitted by Abhishek. Officers carried out a search operation there for an extended period.
