Sanchita Chatterjee, BS News Agency: East Bengal FC has emerged as champions of the Indian Super League for the very first time. Consequently, the confidence of the 'Red and Golds' is currently at an all-time high. On the other hand, their arch-rivals and neighbors, Mohun Bagan, failed to reap any rewards this season despite their best efforts. Therefore, the 'Green and Maroons' have now set their sights on the Calcutta League. Accordingly, Mohun Bagan is set to commence its preparations for the Calcutta League starting June 3rd. And even before that begins, major news is breaking. Rumors suggest that Sayan Banerjee—a Bengali footballer currently with East Bengal—is set to play for Mohun Bagan this year. He will be joined by a host of other Bengali players.

Sayan to Leave East Bengal for Mohun Bagan?
Last season, Sayan played a dominant role for East Bengal in the Calcutta League. He even scored crucial goals for the team at critical moments. Last year, this Bengali footballer proved to be a formidable weapon for the 'Red and Golds.' Sayan Banerjee possesses the ability to outwit opponents and find the back of the net—a fact that Mohun Bagan has clearly recognized. Perhaps that is why the 'Green and Maroons' are looking to fulfill their aspirations in the upcoming Calcutta League by securing his services for their squad.

Needless to say, Mohun Bagan is retaining 16 players who were in excellent form during the last season. From Priyansh Dubey to Diprabhat Ghosh, Tongsing, and Mingma Sherpa—none of these players are leaving Mohun Bagan for other clubs. Meanwhile, to bolster the team's strength, players from the senior brigade—such as Dipendu Biswas, Suhail Bhat, and Abhishek Suryavanshi—will be kept on the reserve bench. Furthermore, a statement has confirmed that Sayan Banerjee has signed a contract with Mohun Bagan after leaving East Bengal. In addition to Sayan, players like Tanmoy Ghosh and Raj Basfor have also left their former clubs to join the 'Bagan' camp. However, Mohun Bagan has not yet made any official announcement regarding Sayan Bandyopadhyay's signing. Nevertheless, many speculate that the club may issue an official statement on the matter very soon. Following that, one of East Bengal's most successful footballers is expected to be seen sporting the Bagan jersey in the upcoming Calcutta League. This year, the responsibility of managing the Mohun Bagan squad for the domestic league rests with senior team coach Bastab Roy. Nilanjan Guha has been appointed as the assistant coach. Reports suggest that, starting next Wednesday, the coaching duo will commence the team's Calcutta League training sessions in phases.
