Five Bangladeshis arrested in Murshidabad after living in India illegally for 13 years.

Sanchita Chatterjee, BSvNews Agency: Police have arrested five members of a family in West Bengal's Murshidabad district on charges of illegally entering India from Bangladesh. The incident occurred in the Dhumarpahar area under the Sagardighi Police Station. The identities of the arrested individuals have been established: Ujir Ali (43), his wife Zainur Khatun (36), and their three sons—Shihad Sheikh (15), Inzamul Haque (10), and Abdul Samad Sheikh (4). Police sources revealed that the family hails from the Chapainawabganj district of Bangladesh. Reports indicate that Ujir Ali crossed the border illegally into India approximately 13 years ago and subsequently settled in the Dhumarpahar area of Sagardighi.

Police stated that the family was detained during a raid in the area. Further investigation into the matter is underway. Ujir Ali used to work as a mason in South India and had even purchased land and built a house in the Dhumarpahar area. It is alleged that, in addition to residing there for a long period, he had obtained various Indian identity documents, including a voter card and an Aadhaar card. Following a police raid, all five family members were arrested. Sources within the police and administration indicated that, once legal formalities are completed, the Border Security Force (BSF) will be contacted to facilitate the repatriation of the arrested individuals to Bangladesh.

In a separate incident, the Border Security Force (BSF) thwarted an attempt by Bangladeshi nationals to enter India across the India-Bangladesh border in West Bengal's Cooch Behar district. This incident took place in Sangarbari village, located within the Khalishamari Gram Panchayat area of Sitalkuchi Block.

According to local residents, a group of 10 to 11 Bangladeshi nationals was spotted gathering on the Bangladesh side of the border earlier in the day. Residents alleged that the group subsequently attempted to enter Indian territory. However, BSF personnel deployed in the area took swift action and prevented the unauthorized entry.
