List of 19 MPs Revolting Against Trinamool Revealed—Who Are They?

Sanchita Chatterjee, BS News Agency: Mamata Banerjee’s troubles continue to mount. Following the MLAs, a growing number of MPs have also staged a rebellion. A list of 19 MPs—including actor-politician Shatrughan Sinha and former cricketer Yusuf Pathan—has surfaced. Reports indicate that these MPs have submitted a signed letter to the Lok Sabha Speaker. However, the party has not yet officially confirmed the matter or issued a detailed response. The release of this list has sparked a storm of controversy in West Bengal politics. If the claims made by the rebel faction prove true, it would deal a major political blow to the Trinamool Congress. All eyes are currently fixed on the stance of the party leadership and the reactions of the MPs named in the list.

The 19 MPs who have revolted:

Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar (Barasat)
Jagadish Chandra Basunia (Cooch Behar)
Khalilur Rahman (Jangipur)
Yusuf Pathan (Baharampur)
Abu Tahir Khan (Murshidabad)
Partha Bhowmick (Barrackpore)
Bapi Haldar (Mathurapur)
Saayoni Ghosh (Jadavpur)
Mala Roy (Kolkata South)
Mitali Bag (Arambagh)
Deepak Adhikari (Ghatal)
Kalipada Saren (Jhargram)
June Malia (Midnapore)
Arup Chakraborty (Bankura)
Dr. Sharmila Sarkar (Bardhaman Purba)
Shatrughan Sinha (Asansol)
Asit Kumar Mal (Bolpur)
Satabdi Roy (Birbhum)
Rachana Banerjee (Hooghly)

It is worth noting that the rebellion, which began within the West Bengal Legislative Assembly, now appears to be evolving into a battle over the party's very existence and leadership. While Mamata's faction seeks political alternatives in Delhi, the rebel camp is attempting to establish itself as the "real" Trinamool Congress by leveraging its organizational majority and the support of MLAs and MPs. Consequently, the 28-year-old Trinamool Congress appears to be facing its greatest political crisis to date. Resignation of Rajya Sabha MP

Trinamool Rajya Sabha MP Sushmita Dev resigned from both the party and Parliament on Wednesday. According to a notification issued by the Rajya Sabha Secretariat, the resignation of Sushmita Dev, a Rajya Sabha MP from West Bengal, has been accepted. She cited both personal and political reasons for her decision. Sources suggest that she may join the BJP. Earlier, Sukhendu Sekhar Roy, the senior-most Rajya Sabha MP of the Trinamool, had also resigned from his parliamentary and party memberships. Meanwhile, Ritabrata Banerjee—leader of the dissident faction and Leader of the Opposition in the West Bengal Legislative Assembly—claimed that the group led by him now comprises 64 MLAs. He stated that this number could rise further, asserting that his faction represents the "real" Trinamool Congress, not the one led by Mamata Banerjee. "We have no intention of merging with the Congress," he said. "The number of MLAs with us has reached 64, and it may increase soon."
