Sanchita Chatterjee, BS News Agency: A young man has alleged that five lakh rupees were taken under the pretext of securing a job for his wife. However, she lost the job just two months after joining. Faced with the shock of job loss and the grievance of losing a substantial sum of money, he has approached the police. An FIR has already been registered at Sabang Police Station based on the written complaint, although Manas Bhunia has denied all allegations.
The complainant is a resident of Bishnupur Gram Panchayat in the Sabang Assembly constituency. He claims that a job was arranged for his wife prior to the Assembly elections. The job was reportedly provided under 'CISB Services Private Limited' at the Temathani Irrigation Bungalow. The young man alleges that Manas Bhunia played a mediating role in securing this employment. He further alleges that a total of five lakh rupees was paid to two individuals—Sheikh Abu Kalan Box and Bholanath Dey—in exchange for the job. According to the complaint, his wife joined the position on March 1 of this year and received a salary of ₹10,747 for the first month. However, the situation changed within a few weeks; she was allegedly dismissed on May 6. It is claimed that the termination order was subsequently sent via WhatsApp.
The young man states that his wife has been left emotionally devastated by the loss of the job, and the family has also been affected. In his complaint, he has requested that necessary steps be taken to restore the job and that a thorough investigation into the incident be conducted. Based on these allegations, the police have registered a case under multiple sections, and an investigation is reportedly underway. However, Manas Bhunia has categorically denied the allegations. He maintains that he is not involved in any financial transactions or the securing of jobs for others, and claims to be unaware that any such complaint has even been filed.
It is worth noting that Manas Bhunia recently announced his decision to leave the Trinamool Congress. He informed the party supremo and former Chief Minister, Mamata Banerjee, of his departure via a letter. However, he clarified that he is not quitting politics altogether. He stated that working within the Trinamool Congress is not feasible under the current circumstances, though social service and politics will remain integral parts of his life. He added that he would announce his future political course of action at a later date.
