Sanchita Chatterjee, BS News Agency, Kolkata, June 14: Sobisco Smashers Malda scripted the highest successful run chase in the history of the Bengal T20 League with a thrilling five-wicket victory over Rashmi Nes Medinipur Wizards at Eden Gardens on Sunday.
Chasing a record target of 203, Malda completed the chase in style, scoring 204/5 in just 18.4 overs. The previous highest successful chase in the league was 189, achieved by Malda against Servotech Siliguri Strikers in 2024.

Akhil (48 off 21) and Abhimanyu Easwaran (52 off 29) provided Malda with a flying start, putting the bowlers under pressure from the outset. In the middle overs, Prayas Ray Barman chipped in with a quickfire 32 off 19 deliveries to keep the momentum going.
At the end, Kaif Ahmed played a match-winning unbeaten knock of 37 off 19 balls and, along with Agniv Pan (13 not out off 8), guided Malda over the line with ease.
Earlier, batting first, Rashmi Nes Medinipur Wizards posted an imposing 202/4 in their 20 overs. Agniswar Das top-scored with 69 off 48 balls, while Anustup Majumdar struck 58 off 36 deliveries. Vivek Singh provided the finishing flourish with an unbeaten 41 off 21 balls.
For Malda, Suraj Sindhu Jaiswal was the pick of the bowlers, bagging two wickets.
