Bibhash Lodh, BS News Agency, from New Jersey: Brazilian star Roberto Carlos has high expectations for Vinicius Junior. The former Brazilian World Cup-winning defender believes that Vinicius will prove himself anew in the ongoing World Cup. In a recent interview, Carlos said that Vinicius must learn to take responsibility, as well as accept both praise and criticism positively. According to him, there will be pressure when playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world, Real Madrid, and the powerful national team, Brazil, and being able to handle it is a big challenge.
Despite showing great performance in club football, Vinicius has not yet been able to match himself as expected in the Brazilian jersey. His impact in major tournaments has not been very noticeable. As a result, he has to face criticism regularly. However, Carlos sees this as a natural part of a star footballer’s career. He said, ‘There is no way to escape criticism. Rather, it must be transformed into strength.’ Brazil drew in the match against Morocco in the World Cup due to Vinicius’ goal.
Although the match was not consistent, there were some positives in his performance.
Carlos also said that he has regular contact with Vinicius and is aware of the young star's confidence and determination. He believes that 'Vinci will show who he really is at this World Cup.' Having played in three World Cups for Brazil, Carlos believes that Vinicius can play a key role in the team's success. According to him, the forward can be one of Brazil's biggest hopes in their mission to regain the title.
