Strict action after Baruipur incident! Chief Minister orders to break all illegal liquor shops in the state

Sanchita Chatterjee, BS News Agency: The administration has taken strict action after identifying the root causes behind the torture and murder of a minor girl in Baruipur. Chief Minister Subhendu Adhikari has given clear instructions to completely dismantle all illegal liquor shops and drug trade in the state. The DGP of the state police has been instructed to conduct a two-week special campaign across the state to eradicate such social evils. On his visit to Baruipur today, the Chief Minister personally met the family members of the affected minor girl and expressed his condolences to them. Later, he also met the family of Indrajit Mandal, who was killed in a mob lynching due to the extreme tension created over the incident. The Chief Minister assured them of being by their side in their deep grief and assured exemplary punishment to the culprits.

After meeting the affected families, Chief Minister Subhendu formally inaugurated a new police outpost at Suryapur in Baruipur. From this inauguration ceremony, he clearly stated that the main reason behind the crime in Baruipur is the dominance of illegal drugs and liquor shops. According to him, the uncontrolled use of alcohol and the easy availability of ganja, charas or other drugs are seriously misleading the youth and disturbing social peace.

From this inauguration stage, the Chief Minister announced an all-out fight against drugs and illegal liquor shops across the state. He said that no social and political compromise will be tolerated in this special police operation. The police administration will conduct continuous special operations across the state for the next two weeks. It has been ordered to ensure that this anti-social work does not continue from rural areas to the suburbs.

To make this massive operation a success, the jawans of the special battalion of the police have been ordered to be directly deployed in the field. The Chief Minister said that if these well-educated and skilled jawans go into the field along with the general police personnel, it will be easier to completely dismantle the hideouts of illegal drug dealers. Instructions have been given to increase the efficiency of detectives at the local level and start identifying the sources of crime quickly. Calling for socialization, the Chief Minister appealed to the common man. He said that if you come to know about any illegal liquor shops or cannabis-charis business in your area, you should inform the police directly. The police administration has assured that the police will take prompt action based on the information provided by the common citizens and the name of the informer will be kept completely confidential.

The Chief Minister also mentioned that the Bengal STF (Special Task Force) active across the state is working bravely every day. They are continuously conducting raids on trains, long-distance buses and various inter-state borders and seizing a huge amount of drugs. However, in addition to these highway and railway raids, it is now necessary to build resistance against the gangs hiding in the remote rural alleys of the district level.

The Chief Minister said that there is a clear link between cause and effect behind the Baruipur incident. Illegal drug dens are the main driving force behind the increase in crime. If the society is not freed from this social pollution, it is difficult to maintain the safety of women and the healthy development of youth. Therefore, the order to demolish every illegal structure has been implemented with great vigor.

Here is a brief overview of how the special operation will be conducted across the state for the next two weeks and which police departments will actively participate in it.
