In an interview with Spanish state broadcaster ‘TVE’ after the match, he dedicated the title to the millions of Spanish fans.

Torres said of the goal that decided the match, “At the end of the day, this goal is not just mine or the 26 players we have here; it is the 47 million people in Spain. Our destiny was written today that we are going to be champions.” Regarding the pressure of facing world champions Argentina and Lionel Messi in the final, he said, “All finals are difficult. And when there is a player like Lionel Messi in the opposing team, it is very normal to be nervous and stressed.” However, Torres added, “We have always trusted in our strength and our natural football. Today we proved that again on the field.” Regarding criticism of his form in the current tournament, the Spanish star said, “It is a huge feeling of liberation. I have been criticized a lot in this World Cup. But fate was already decided. I thank God, who has given me the strength to move forward.

In the end, success comes to those who really deserve something.”
