According to Bora, the callers invoked the name of a prominent MLA, claiming the arrangement was required for a short duration. “The payment is good, they told me,” she alleged.
She further stated that the callers offered as much as Rs 80,000 for the engagement, which raised her suspicions. “They said they would pay Rs 80,000 just for dancing. I wondered who would pay such an amount only for dance,” Bora said. Seeking clarity, she directly questioned the intent behind the offer. “I asked them clearly if they were looking for sex, and told them that if that was the case, they should approach sex workers. But they insisted, ‘No, we only want models to dance and drink with us,’” she added.
Bora refrained from naming the individual allegedly referred to by the callers, citing fear of repercussions. “I cannot take names—they are very big. If I do, I could get into trouble. But what I am saying is true. It is someone who has been an MLA for a long time and is currently a minister,” she claimed.
The model also revealed that she reached out to a police contact for advice after receiving the call. “A friend of mine in the police told me that when he was posted in Sonapur, he had heard a little about such things but was later transferred. He advised me to stay away from it,” Bora said. However, the police contact also suggested caution in drawing conclusions. “He said it is possible that the MLA may not be directly involved and that someone could be misusing their name. If such things were actually happening, they would likely be done secretly,” she noted.
Expressing concern over the vulnerability of newcomers, Bora warned that young women entering the modelling industry could be targeted. “There may be new girls who need work and money, and they could be trapped, especially since the offer only mentions dance,” she said.
