Kolkata Police begins preparations for Puja, seeks information from divisional and traffic DCs Lalbazar

Namita Deb, BS News Agency: Only 56 days are left for the Puja. Preparations are in full swing across the city. It can be said that idol artists from the mandap have no time to catch their breath. Now Kolkata Police has also started preparing. Lalbazar is already planning for several issues related to crowd-traffic control and movement of visitors. The Police Commissioner has sought detailed information from all divisional DCs and traffic DCs, including how many Pujas are held in the area, how many Pujas are held, how much traffic there is, how crowded the roads are, etc. In a notification issued by the Commissioner, the Divisional DCs and DC Traffic officers have been instructed to provide information. The notification states that after discussing with the OCs of the police stations and traffic guards under the DCs, the number of Puja committees in the concerned areas and a detailed plan for crowd control will be prepared.  That is, from which direction will visitors come, where there may be more crowds and through which route will visitors exit. If there is any addition or subtraction in the list of puja mandap, a number of information has been sought, including a detailed description. In addition, the DC Division and Traffic have been asked to know how many big pujas are there in the area. Whether there is an interesting theme being held there, which mandap can attract many visitors. Which roads are likely to be overcrowded by pedestrians or vehicles. Along with that list, even if there are narrow spaces, this should also be reported. Whether any suggestions have been given to the puja committees, and if so, what are they? Whether there is any internal dispute among the members of the puja committee, and if so, on what issue? If there are any deficiencies from the last experience, and which aspects need to be improved, a number of information has been sought in detail.
