Namita Deb, BS News Agency: The water level of Ganga at Gandhi Ghat in Patna has broken all the old records and reached a new height, causing a commotion across Bihar. The state government has issued a new red alert of flood in five districts downstream due to the rising water level. It is feared that water will flood the low-lying areas along the river in the next one to three days. Chief Minister Samrat Chowdhury himself has come to the house to manage the situation. He has already visited the flood-affected and vulnerable areas by helicopter and has directed the administration to be on the highest alert. According to the latest information from the Central Water Commission, the continuous fluctuation of the water level of the river has spread extreme panic among the common people in the riverside areas and low-lying areas. All the field workers and engineers have been kept ready with the necessary equipment to keep an eye on the dam and water level. Apart from advising people to stay away from the river, the rescue and relief camps have also been kept fully operational.
