India wins 4 more gold medals in archery and shooting at Aichi Nagoya Asian Games

Bibhash Lodh, BS News Agency: Indian women athletes ended Tuesday night at the Asian Games in Aichi Nagoya by winning gold in the 4x400m relay. The Indian girls won silver in Hangzhou 2023. This probably motivated the entire Indian camp to perform well in all other sports. With that, India brought home four more gold medals in Aichi Nagoya on Wednesday morning.

The Indian women's archery team performed brilliantly in the compound event and won the gold by touching a world record score by defeating a strong Chinese opponent by a score of 238-234. Jyoti Surekha Venom, Chikita Taniparthi, Prithika Pradeep, who were part of the Indian compound team, showed their dominance and took home the gold. They touched the world record score of Korea at the 2014 Incheon Asian Games.

The second gold of the day came in the compound mixed event in archery, won by Sahil Yadav and Chikita Taniparthi. They defeated Korea in a shoot-off. Both teams were tied at 157-157, necessitating a shoot-off. The Indian pair won the gold by a score of 10-9 in that stage. This success has given them a chance to participate in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

The third gold in archery came from the arrows of Kushal Dalal, Sahil Yadav, and Ganesh in the men's team compound event. They defeated the Chinese archers in the final despite being trailing by 2 points at the beginning.

In shooting, Neeru Dhanda made India proud by winning her second gold in the mixed trap event, teaming up with Keenan Chennai. They defeated the Qatari pair by scoring 34. In total, India now has 10 gold medals.

Olympic bronze medalist Lovlina Bargonhai has raised hopes of winning gold by reaching the finals in the women's 75 kg boxing category.
