At least 5 people have died in the incident and two more are missing. The accident took place on Sunday in Kottakambur and Nilambur in Kerala. The administration has launched rescue operations after receiving the news of the accident. This incident has spread panic in 'God's Own Country'. It is known that on Sunday afternoon, Harappa flood suddenly came to the Kottapuzha river in Malappuram. The riverbank area from Ularvattom Canal to Tike Colony here is very popular with tourists. Moreover, since Sunday was a holiday, a large crowd had gathered here. 9 people were swept away due to the sudden rise in the water level of the river. About 27 people were trapped in the river during the Harappa flood. They were rescued with the help of local residents and rescuers. Later, the bodies of two people were recovered from the river. Locals claim that there was not much rain in the area at that time. However, the water level of the river suddenly rose due to heavy rain in the upstream forest. On the other hand, a landslide occurred due to heavy rain in Kottakambur of Idukki district of Kerala. Two people named Balakrishnan and Chinna were working in their garlic field in the afternoon. They took shelter in a tin shed to escape the rain. Suddenly, there was a landslide. Two people died. Another person was seriously injured in the incident.
Meanwhile, Kerala Chief Minister Satheesan has taken action after receiving the news of the accident. He has ordered a meeting with the District Magistrates of the two districts and to submit a detailed report of the incident. He has taken a minute-by-minute look into the rescue operation. People have been ordered to be evacuated from the dangerous area.
