Last minute schedule change, Mohun Bagan-Mohammedan mini derby postponed, three matches to start at the same time

Bibhash Lodh, BS News Agency: Mohun Bagan has finally given its seal on the demand it had been making since the beginning of the Super Six. All three matches on the last day of the championship round of the Kolkata League will start at the same time. As a result, the match between Mohun Bagan and Mohammedan that was supposed to be held on Thursday has been postponed.
According to the new schedule, Mohun Bagan and Mohammedan will face each other at 3 pm on September 19 at the Barasat Stadium. IFA officials visited the Barasat Stadium on Tuesday. They also contacted the police for permission. Permission to organize the match was granted that night. Although the East Bengal-Mohammedan match had to be shifted from Barasat to Kalyani due to Ganesh Puja, that problem is not arising in the case of the Mohun Bagan-Mohammedan match.

East Bengal and Coal India will play at the same time on Saturday at the East Bengal ground. The match between Bhavanipur and United Sports was supposed to be held in Barasat. It has been shifted to Barrackpore. That is, six teams will take to the field at the same time on September 19 at 3 pm. This time, however, the points from the group stage are not being added to the Super Six. As a result, the team that is at the top of the points list after the end of the three matches of the championship round will be the one who will lift the trophy.

At the moment, both Mohun Bagan and Mohammedan have collected 4 points. Both teams have won one match each and drawn one. East Bengal has drawn both matches and got 2 points. If the Mohun Bagan-Mohammedan match is drawn, both teams will have 5 points. In that case, East Bengal will also have a chance. They will have to beat Coal India to go to 5 points. Then goal difference can become the big criterion for determining the champion. If East Bengal can win by five goals or more, the door to the trophy can open for them.

However, the calculation does not end here. United Sports, which is on 2 points, is still in the fight. Bhavanipur has 3 points. If the mini derby is drawn and East Bengal wins, all three teams will have 5 points. In that situation, if Bhavanipur can defeat United Sports, they can become champions with 6 points. That is, the picture is quite clear before the last match. Except for Coal India, the remaining five teams of the Super Six have the chance to become champions. Therefore, the attention will be on the Kolkata ground in the three matches that start simultaneously on the last day.
