Warm welcome: Congratulations to the new Chief Justice of the High Court Mamata

BS News Agency: Former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee congratulated the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court, Ravindra Vithalrao Ghuge. On Wednesday morning, Rabindra Vithalrao Ghuge took oath as the new Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court in Courtroom No. 1 of the High Court. Governor RN Ravi administered the oath. Chief Minister Shuvendu Adhikari, Assembly Speaker Rathindra Basu and several top leaders of the judiciary and administration were present.

Soon after this, Mamata posted on her X handle welcoming the new Chief Justice. She wrote on her X handle, “Heartfelt congratulations to Justice R V Ghuge on assuming charge as the new Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court. My best wishes to him for his new responsibility. I warmly welcome him to West Bengal.” Earlier, Justice Tapobrata Chakraborty was holding the post of Acting Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court. Almost a month after the recommendation of the Supreme Court Collegium, the central government on Saturday issued a notification appointing Acting Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court, Rabindra Vitthalrao Ghuge, as the Chief Justice of the Calcutta High Court.

Rabindra Ghuge completed his law studies in 1990 from MP Law College in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (formerly Aurangabad), Maharashtra. The same year, he started his career as an advocate in the Bombay High Court. In the beginning of his career, he has argued about two thousand cases on behalf of labor organizations and workers. He has also fought cases in the court on behalf of about 250 corporate and multinational companies.
