A jihadi was caught trying to break an idol by entering a pavilion disguised as a visitor in Dhaka

BS News Agency Dhaka: Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Force have foiled a major sabotage attempt to vandalize an idol at the Durga Puja pavilion in Pallavi, the capital of Bangladesh. The incident took place at around 10 pm on Sunday (October 18) at the Sarbanjanin Sri Sri Ram Mandir Puja Mandap in Bauniabad Ravidas Para, Pallavi. A jihadi disguised as a visitor entered the pavilion with country-made weapons and was caught by the Ansar members on duty.

It is learnt that Mohammad Abul Khair, Assistant Section Commander (APC) of the Ansar force, who is in charge of the security of the temple, noticed the suspicious movement of a youth. Then the youth tried to cross the bamboo fence of the temple and rush towards the idol with the intention of breaking the idol. Just then, APC Abul Khair caught the young man named Hasan Islam Tushar (25) red-handed. Later, a large axe, hammer, bottle and chisel along with several dangerous domestic sabotage tools were confiscated from his bag. That night, the arrested young man along with the weapons was quickly handed over to Pallabi Police Station for necessary legal action. After the incident, security has been strengthened in the mandap area and the current situation is completely under control and normal, the police said. After this incident, the local puja celebration committee and the visitors present highly appreciated the role of the Ansar members. They believe that due to this timely role, a major communal chaos has been avoided.
