Biggest news of the afternoon: Abhishek leaves the police station after 5.5 hours of closed-door interrogation!

Bibhash Lodh, BS News Agency: Tension continued on the streets throughout the day today over the Camac Street billboard case. Finally, after a long 5.5-hour marathon interrogation, Trinamool MP Abhishek Banerjee from Diamond Harbour left the Shakespeare Sarani police station on Wednesday afternoon. This high-profile closed-door interrogation in the midst of the festive season has created a huge uproar in the state's political circles. The incident began on August 27. A huge situation arose over the removal of a huge billboard hung on Abhishek Banerjee's political office located on Camac Street in Kolkata. When the Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) and Kolkata Police personnel went to remove the billboard, claiming it was illegal, they were allegedly severely obstructed in their work. The situation became so heated that there were allegations of assault on the police and municipal workers. In the wake of this incident, a case was registered at Shakespeare Sarani police station under several serious sections, including obstruction of government work and non-bailable sections. The police had summoned Abhishek Banerjee for questioning in this case on Monday. However, he avoided appearing by seeking at least 48 hours' time from the police on the same day through an email. Later, according to a new notice issued by the police, the Trinamool MP entered the Shakespeare Sarani police station at exactly 11 am on Wednesday along with his lawyer. Earlier, on September 1, he had appeared at the police station for the first time in the same case. Today, during the 5.5-hour marathon interrogation, what exactly did the investigators ask for and where will the course of this case take a turn in the coming days, the political circles are now paying close attention.
