According to police and local sources, the minor spoke little. Taking advantage of this opportunity, the accused old man devised a plan to trap her in various ways. On Tuesday night, the old man, the neighbor, called the 10-year-old girl to his house with the lure of food or something tempting.
Allegedly, the girl was then locked in the house and subjected to unspeakable physical torture and sexual abuse. When the child started screaming in fear and pain, her screams were heard by the family members. Then they rushed to the spot and rescued the minor.
Caught in the police net, confessed everything during interrogation
The girl's family went to Durgapur police station at night and filed a written complaint detailing the entire incident. Immediately after receiving the complaint, the investigation team of Asansol-Durgapur Police Commissionerate rushed to the scene.
An official of the commissionerate, who did not want to be named, said that based on the complaint of the minor's mother, the accused old man was arrested from his house at night. When he was brought to the police station and interrogated, the old man confessed to his crime.
Case under POCSO Act and court order The police have taken strict action in the incident of this vicious attack on the child. A case has been registered against the arrested person under multiple sections including the POCSO Act. In addition, several information and clothes of the incident have been seized from the accused's house.
The 74-year-old man, who was arrested on Wednesday, was taken to the Durgapur Subdistrict Court under tight security. The locals are shocked to see the demonic face hidden behind the mask of such an elderly man day after day. Angry neighbors have demanded exemplary punishment.
