Can you offer Durga Puja in your own block? This time the decision will be made by lottery! High Court's big directive

BS News Agency: Who will organize Durga Puja this year in CC Block of Newtown, the solution is hidden in a lottery! When the conflict between the Newtown CC Block Residents Welfare Association and a rival group of neighbors over the puja escalated, the court was flooded. In the hearing of that case, Justice Krishna Rao of the Calcutta High Court ordered that the final decision would be made through a lottery as to which group would be responsible for organizing the puja. According to court sources, the necessary permission was not obtained to hold the puja on Hidco land. In addition, the estimated annual cost of the puja was not submitted. For these two reasons, the NKDA canceled the permission for the puja. After this, mudslinging started between the two local groups, demanding the right to hold Durga Puja at the same place. The puja authorities appeared in the High Court to snatch away the rights and ensure the puja.

Justice Krishna Rao made it clear that the estate manager will take all the decisions related to the lottery process. As a result, it now depends on the winning of the lottery whether the ordinary residents of CC block will be able to go to the mandap of the neighborhood and offer Anjali or not. On the other hand, the High Court has directed the local police to keep a close watch on the area so that no law and order complications arise in the area due to the puja.
