BS News Agency: Larsen & Toubro (L&T), one of India's leading infrastructure construction companies, has once again been given a major responsibility to make the public transport system of Dhaka, the capital of neighboring Bangladesh, more dynamic and modern. This Indian company has bagged a major contract for the overall implementation of the Dhaka Metro Rail Line-1 project, starting from designing two very important and mega system packages. L&T will work in a joint venture with Japan's Sumitomo Corporation. What are the responsibilities of the joint venture?

L&T has officially confirmed the mega contract in a corporate release released on Tuesday. The company's transport business division has won the contract under the 'Dhaka Mass Rapid Transit Development Project'.

According to the terms of the contract, the two companies will be responsible for the overall design, procurement of components, construction and testing of the following works:

Currently, the Line-6 route is successfully commercially operational.

In this regard, Ramkumar S, Senior Vice President and Head of Transportation Infrastructure Department of L&T, said, "Getting the responsibility of such a large project again from Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL) is a great testament to our urban public transportation and technical expertise at the international level." It is worth noting that L&T has also recently won a major project in Indonesia's Jakarta Metro Project. Some information about Bangladesh's first underground Metro Line-1:
